Function of Flax Seeds

Flax have lots of fatty acid.  it contains two essential fats , omega 3 fatty acids and omega 6 fatty acids , it is also  as well as fiber and protein .So it is very good on our diet . We can eat the flax oil directs to our mouth , or can add it at top of our salad. But should not cook it because high temperature can make this oil  into harmful carcinogens.
We can also taking flax with other nutrients such as vitamin E, vitamin B6, magnesium and carotene. It can increase flax's benefits.Vitamin E and flax both can  fight free radicals and  unstable molecules that cause chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer. It is known that vitamin E and flax also help to reduce blood clot formation.
But this flax is not easy to digest. we must grin or soaking it before consume.

How To Cook With Olive Oil

I have been told by my friend that cooking with olive oil is best for healthy cooking. But she said that can not fried it or make it over heat because can damage it or saturated or a trans-fatty oil. So I think, it is bit of difficult too, cause I like stir fry vegetables . If I can not heat it, how can I stir fry the vegetables ? You know most of Chinese food is stir fry.
And I try to have a search on healthy olive oil cooking and found out that we can heat the olive oil or make fry in it. I am so great when I read it, cause I can use the olive oil and cook with my favorite Chinese food.
It said that :

Olive Oil Myth: Olive oil loses its benefits when heated

The Facts: Excessively heating olive oil will evaporate the alcohols and esters which make up its delicate taste and fragrance. Heating olive oil will not change its health aspects, only the flavor. Use a cheaper olive oil which doesn't have much flavor to begin with if you want to fry with it, add a more flavorful olive oil after cooking or at the table.

Olive Oil Myth: Heating a cooking oil will make it saturated or a trans-fatty oil.

The Facts: As far as making a saturated fat, according to Dr. A. Kiritsakis, a world renowned oil chemist in Athens, (Book - OLIVE OIL FROM THE TREE TO THE TABLE -Second edition 1998), all oils will oxidize and hydrogenate to a tiny degree if repeatedly heated to very high temperatures such as is done in commercial frying operations. Olive pomace oil and virgin olive oil are both highly monounsaturated oils and therefore resistant to oxidation and hydrogenation. Studies have shown oxidation and hydrogenation occurs to a lesser degree in olive oil than in other oils. But in any case, the amount of hydrogenation is miniscule and no home cook would ever experience this problem.

The large refinery-like factories which take unsaturated vegetable oil and turn it into margarine or vegetable lard do so by bubbling hydrogen gas through 250 to 400 degree hot vegetable oil in the presence of a metal catalyst, usually nickel or platinum. The process can take several hours. You cannot make a saturated product like margarine at home by heating olive oil or any other vegetable oil in a pan. We don't know where this weird notion has come from. For more see our olive oil chemistry page

Changing a cis-fat to a trans-fat does not occur on a home stove.

Olive Oil Myth: Cooking in olive oil diminishes the nutritional value of the food.

Olive Oil Fact: Heating food will break down its nutritional value. High heat such as frying is worse than moderate heat such as steaming, which is worse than eating vegetables raw. It is not the cooking oil per se, but the high heat of frying. I am not aware of any edible cooking oil which of itself diminishes the nutritional value of the food cooked in it. Most nutritionists recommend lightly steaming vegetables or eating them raw. A touch of a flavorsome olive oil added at the table will add taste and healthful anti-oxidants. Such is the "Mediterranean diet" which has been shown to help prevent coronary disease and have other health benefits

Guava

I like eat guava, in my place, it have a lot. Make juice also nice too, very sweet and good tasty .
Guava is an obscure tropical fruit that's subtly acidic, with sweetness that intensifies as you eat your way to the center.
Why it's healthy :
Guava has a higher concentration of lycopene—an antioxidant that fights prostate cancer—than any other plant food, including tomatoes and watermelon. In addition, 1 cup of the stuff provides 688 milligrams (mg) of potassium, which is 63 percent more than you'll find in a medium banana. And guava may be the ultimate high-fiber food: There's almost 9 grams (g) of fiber in every cup.
How to eat it :
Down the entire fruit, from the rind to the seeds. It's all edible—and nutritious. The rind alone has more vitamin C than you'd find in the flesh of an orange. You can score guava in the produce section of higher-end supermarkets or in Latin grocery stores.

Yoghurt

Last Saturday I tried to make yoghurt , cause I heard that it is very good for our body. And I am very happy that I have succed to make it. Do you know what is yoghurt ?
Yoghurt is formed by the bacterial fermentation of milk. It can be made from any milk, but cows milk is usually used. Bacteria cause the sugar in the milk to ferment, that produces lactic acid. This then reacts with the protein in the milk to form yoghurt.

How Much You Know About Vitamin ?

I am looking at the health article tonight and I found it that vitamin E is very important for our body. It said that there are two kinds of vitamins and our body need it.
Vitamin E, like vitamins A, K, and D, is a fat-soluble vitamin that can be stored within the body in fatty tissue. Cannot be stored and excess amounts are excreted in the urine is Vitamin B complex and vitamin C , they are water-soluble vitamins .
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and it protects tissue against free radicals. It is also important in formation of red blood cells. It helps our body use vitamin K.
Vitamin E improves circulation, promotes normal blood clotting and healing, is necessary in the repair of tissue and can reduce scarring, too.

5 Fall Skin Care Must Haves

I am so interested with this " 5 Fall Skin Care Must Haves " articles which I saw at Yahoo health. I think it is great and we should share it with each other. Having a healthy skin is very important to us. It said that :

1. Whatever the economic situation, there's never a reason to spend money on pricey microdermabrasion treatments - a good facial scrub will slough off dead skin cells just as well (and at a fraction of the price). I love Olay Regenerist Detoxifying Pore Scrub (around $10), which will help even your skin tone and prepare your skin to better absorb the other products in your regimen.

2. I know, I know ... I talk a lot about antioxidants. (What can I say? They're an unbeatable way to neutralize the skin-aging free radicals caused by UV rays and pollution.) And some topical antioxidants can be pricey. But did you know that oral antioxidants also have a big impact on your skin?

A combination of the two is always best, but if you've had to cut back on some skin-care products, simply sipping a couple of cups of antioxidant-rich green tea (around $5 for 40 tea bags) every day will go far to protect your skin. (And if those tea bags are caffeinated, pop 'em in the fridge when they're finished brewing and place them on your eyes during a quiet moment. The combination of coolness and caffeine will quickly soothe inflamed, puffy eyes.)

3. To really nourish the skin all over your body, you don't need pricey mud baths and seaweed wraps! In fact, you can slather your whole body with a powerful anti-aging, skin-protecting treatment every time you moisturize: Nivea's Moisturizer with coenzyme Q10 (around $10) delivers the nourishing and protective benefits of coenzyme Q10, a powerful antioxidant.

4. Skipping those weekly manicures for now? Pick up a pair of cotton gloves and no one will ever know! A couple of times a week, I slather my hands with a rich moisturizer (even simple, inexpensive petroleum jelly will do the trick), put on a pair of gloves, and head to bed. Give it a try to keep your hands soft and your cuticles neat and moisturized. If you've budgeted a bit of a splurge, this Burt's Bees Hand Repair Kit (around $13) includes rich hand cream and cuticle cream as well as gloves.

5. If you have dry skin (and many more of us will as the weather becomes chillier and less humid), you may be particularly tempted to spend big bucks on pricey moisturizers that promise radiant, hydrated skin. But did you know that your cleanser is just as important when it comes to strengthening dry, sensitive skin?

Use a cleanser with foaming detergents or (gasp!) bar soap, and you'll strip skin's vital lipids, leaving you with an even greater moisture deficit to overcome. Instead, try one of my favorite cleansers for dry skin types, and a skin-care classic at that: Pond's Cold Cream (around $5).

Wishing you great skin!

Ice cream headaches

When I see the title " Ice cream headaches" I found at MSN health article...it makes me a little confuse...I never heard it . I says :
Definition
You know the feeling. One bite into an ice cream cone and you're struck with a stabbing headache. Ice pops, slushy frozen drinks, and other cold foods and drinks can have the same "brain freeze" effect.
But there's good news. Most ice cream headaches are gone in the time it would take you to say their medical name — "headache attributed to ingestion or inhalation of a cold stimulus."
Symptoms
Ice cream headaches cause sharp, stabbing pain in the forehead. The pain often peaks about 30 to 60 seconds after it begins. Ice cream headaches rarely last longer than a minute or two.
Causes
Ice cream headaches are caused by cold material moving across the roof of your mouth and the back of your throat, as happens when you eat ice cream quickly or gulp a cold drink. Scientists are still unsure about the exact mechanism that causes this pain.
One theory suggests that the cold food or drink may temporarily alter blood flow in your brain, causing a brief headache. Some researchers suspect that the pain is referred from your mouth to your head via the trigeminal nerve, which delivers sensory information from the face, teeth and tongue to the brain.
Risk factors
Ice cream headaches can affect anyone. But you may be more susceptible to ice cream headaches if you're prone to migraines. And, in some cases, ice cream headaches can be a trigger for migraines.
Treatments and drugs
Ice cream headaches rarely need treatment. Typically, the pain quickly disappears after the cold food or drink is swallowed.
Prevention
To help prevent ice cream headaches, eat cold foods and drink cold beverages slowly. It also helps to warm up cold foods in the front of your mouth before swallowing. There's no need to avoid ice cream or other cold foods and drinks.

Nonstick pans can cause cancer ?

Is it right or not that nonstick pans can cause cancer ? This is a serious question for me , I saw it at today's news on MSN. I have a nonstick pan and almost every I use it. I make my eggs with this pan.
It said that we shouldn't be heated nonstick pan over 500°F. The chemical behind this scare is perfluorooctanoic acid, or PFOA, a substance used to make nonstick coating. In animals, high levels of PFOA (also found in stain-resistant carpets, microwave popcorn bags, and pizza boxes) have been linked to cancer, low birth weight, and other health problems.
So what should we do ....wait..I see the solutions too in this news.
Simple safety step:
Add water or oil to the pan when you turn on the flame to absorb heat — and never raise temps above medium-high. Because PFOA can escape when the nonstick surface degrades, toss the pan if you see scratches or particles flaking into food.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Do you ever heard about Chinese medicine ? I think maybe some of you have heard it...if you are a Chinese..absolutely you must know it..and ever taste it..like me ha..ha..ha..
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) was coined in the 1950s as a term to collectively refer to what was exported as "Chinese medicine". It is the news that I read tonight.
Today traditional Chinese medicine means that which entails the Chinese theories, diagnosis and treatment of individuals using traditional Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, massage and Qigong. Sometimes it is called Oriental medicine or East Asian medicine.
TCM has a theory based on several philosophical believes including the Yin-Yang theory, the Five Elements, the Meridian system, the Zang Fu Organ theory and a few others. These theories or concepts are collectively used to come up with a diagnosis.

Pharmacy Tech

Talking about pharmacy technician is nice too ...at least for me, but ha..ha..I know a lot of people like me not know a lot about pharmacy tech. Actually they have a great job..helping people prepare prescribed medication for patients like counting tablets and labeling bottles. And their working time is same as pharmacists work, of course they have shift time because some of them are like hospital , open 24 hours a day.
And I see a pharmacy technician salary is nice too.. at 2002 it is about $ 10.70/ hour, but it is depending on their work environment, these wages vary.

X-Ray Technician

Do you know what is the job of x ray technician ? I think not all of you know it. Yeah...it is a great job, xray technician responsible for conducting imaging procedures specified by a patient's physician. And some of them are trained to utilize even more advanced equipment like MRIs and CTs.
I see radiologic technology program may take time from 1 to 4 years. And most of this programs are accredited by Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiograpic technology and their licensing is required in 38 states at this time. So are you interested to become a x-ray technician ?

Do we need dietary supplements ?

" Dietary supplements: Do you need them?" it is the news I read today...and I asked my self too...am I really need it ? Inever think it before...so I think this is a good information for us too.
The answer depends on our eating and lifestyle habits and some factors beyond our control, such as your age. Dietary supplements may be appropriate if:
1. We don't eat well
2. We are a vegetarian
3. We consume less than 1,200 calories a day.
4. We have a medical condition that affects how your body absorbs, uses or excretes nutrients
5. We're a postmenopausal woman
6. We're a woman who has heavy menstrual bleeding
7. We're pregnant or trying to become pregnant.
8. We smoke
9. We drink excessively
If we're generally healthy and eat a wide variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and lean meats, we don't likely need dietary supplements.

Vegetables

After having a celebration Chinese new year , it is time for me to stop eat a lot of candy, cakes, meat and coke. I will go to market to buy a fresh vegetables on eat it. We need to eat vegetables because vegetables have vitamins and minerals and are good sources of dietary fiber. They're naturally low in fat, sodium and calories and contain no cholesterol.
I will buy a fresh brocoli , "bok choy" I don't know what is the English name ha..ha.., carrot...I want to make vagetable soup.
